Frequently asked questions
Where are your products made?
Project Backcountry products are manufactured in Pullman, WA, USA. We also carry MOLLE accessories for our Modular FenderLinks, and while these are not manufactured in-house, they are made in the USA and usually manufactured to military specifications.
Are there advantages to Modular FenderLINKS if I already have front/rear storage boxes?
There are two primary advantages to our Modular FenderLinks and both are revealed in the product name itself. The first advantage is modularity. Our mounts rely on the widely adopted MOLLE mounting platform that allows each user to customize their storage solution for their specific needs. The second advantage is the location of our mounts on the rider-facing portion of the front fenders. This provides quick access to high-priority items with no need to dismount the ATV, as is typical for accessing front and rear storage boxes. And while modern ATVs usually have a small storage compartment within reach of the rider, we find they are rarely enough for the typical use case.
Why are your Modular FenderLINKS Manufactured from KYDEX® T?
Kydex T is an incredibly robust material that is lightweight, scratch and abrasion resistant, chemically resistant, and available in premium surface textures. When it comes to strength, measured by the ASTM standardized Izod Impact Strength test, Kydex T outperforms competitor plastics such as the more commonly used High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) by a factor of nearly 15. It also has the ability to flex, allowing our Modular FenderLinks to better fit the slight curvature of ATV fenders.
Do i have to drill my fenders to install the modular fenderLINKS?
In most cases, yes. Installation requires drilling small holes(3/16”) for the mounting points. Our first prototype Modular FenderLink was designed for the left fender of a Yamaha Grizzly 700 and used the pre-existing factory rivet holes that secure the “warning stickers” to the fender. During initial design, we had reservations about drilling new holes in the right side fender to add a second Modular FenderLink. After field testing the left mount, those reservations were quickly outweighed by the exceptional function of the Modular FenderLinks along with their pleasing aesthetics that have a factory (or better!) appearance. Once installed, you will wonder why your ATV didn’t come this way from the manufacturer.
What’s a molle-based mounting system?
MOLLE is an acronym that stands for Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment system. The MOLLE system was adopted by the US Military as a modular mounting system built into military packs and other wearable gear. This widely adopted system is based on a grid pattern that allows the attachment of numerous MOLLE compatible accessories.
Where are the molle accessories offered by project backcountry manufactured?
Project Backcountry only offers high quality MOLLE accessories manufactured in the USA, primarily by suppliers of the US Military. Any exceptions will be clearly noted in product descriptions.
can i have project backcountry items shipped outside of the usa?
